What Is Unattended Death Cleanup?
Unattended death cleanup addresses a property where a death was not discovered right away. In Dearborn, MI's climate, decomposition can begin affecting flooring, subflooring, and surrounding materials within a short time, which makes this a specialized job rather than a standard cleaning task. Technicians handle the removal of biological material, disinfect the affected area, and manage any odor left behind, allowing family members to avoid direct contact with the scene during an already difficult time.
Why You Need It
Decomposition byproducts carry serious health risks and can spread through a property faster than most people expect, particularly through flooring seams, subfloor material, and HVAC systems. Odor from an unattended death can also embed itself into walls, insulation, and furniture, becoming much harder to remove the longer it goes untreated. Beyond the biological hazard, leaving the scene unaddressed places an unfair emotional burden on whoever discovers it next, whether that is a family member, landlord, or neighbor.
Our Process
Scene Evaluation
A technician assesses the extent of the affected area, including how far fluids or odor may have traveled beneath flooring or into walls.
Biohazard Removal
All biological material and affected porous materials are removed and handled as regulated medical waste in accordance with state and federal law.
Deep Disinfection
Every surface in the affected zone is disinfected with hospital-grade products designed to neutralize pathogens associated with decomposition.
Odor Remediation
Specialized deodorization equipment and treatments address odor that has settled into materials beyond what standard cleaning can reach.
